Chester County Pools & Supply Company’s mission since it was founded in 1960 is to provide exceptional service, quality swimming pools, chemicals, and accessories to all of our loyal and greatly appreciated customers. We strive to educate our customers on all aspects of taking care of their pool so they can relax and enjoy their summers swimming in their sparkling clean pool. Our goal is to treat all of our customers the way we would like to be treated…Like family! Since our opening in 1960 we have had the privilege to sell and service thousands of pools, which would not have been possible without the dedication of our wonderful customers.

History of Chester County Pools

Wayne Criswell Sr. Founder of Chester County Pools & Supply Company

During the 1950’s Wayne Criswell Sr. who was then working at the Lukens Steel Company wanted to surprise his wife Marie, and children Dawn and Wayne Jr with their own swimming pool. Wayne Sr. built the in ground pool himself using concrete blocks and other parts he welded together for the filtering system. Wayne Sr. realized the need for a swimming pool store in this area while traveling back and forth to Maryland for supplies, and after receiving numerous inquiries from friends and neighbors about having their own pool.

Wayne Sr. started a small business in his house which his son Wayne Jr. helped him run. The response was immediate and much greater than Wayne Sr. had imagined. When he moved his family to their current location on Route 82, approximately two miles south of Coatesville, in 1960, he left Lukens Steel to run the pool business full time and established Chester County Pools and Supply Company.

Wayne Sr. went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 21st 1981. Throughout the past 56 years many members of our family have worked in the store including Wayne Jr, his sister Dawn and her husband Danny, as well as their son David and his wife.

Currently Wayne Jr. owns the store and with the help of his son Jeff and wife Robin they are continuing to follow Wayne Sr.’s mission of treating each customer as we would want to be treated…Like Family!
